Hotel Victor / About / History & Fame

An Historic Art Deco Oasis In South Beach

Designed by famed architect L. Murray Dixon, The Victor Hotel first opened its doors in 1937 and immediately welcomed celebrities and socialites into its doors. After a closing in the mid 1960s, the hotel underwent a $48 million re-imagining, and was reopened in 2003 as Hotel Victor. Located next to the Versace mansion on Ocean Drive, the 1937 property completed an expansion that brought its room total to 88 and placed it at the upper end of the luxury boutique market. Confident that South Beach was ready for something new, the owners selected internationally renowned decorator Jacques Garcia to breathe life into the building, due to his amazing body of work, including private interiors for some of the wealthiest people in the world. Garcia helped develop a seductive sanctuary at Hotel Victor, his first hotel in the Americas.
